A Different Type of Style…

I think this would count as my first “official” page of 2011.  Well, one that I can show you guys!  My first official page of the year won’t go live until Wednesday over at Twisted Sketches

This is my very first attempt at using the “shabby chic” style.  I saw these papers by Pink Paislee and fell in love with them.  Of course I bought them….then realized that I had NO CLUE how to use them!  It’s amazing what a quick stop into Michael’s, a few dollars, and some awesome K & Company can do!  If I do toot my own horn, I like how this page turned out!  Amazingly, it only took me a couple hours to throw together…and I have realized that this style makes me HATE and DREAD the gluing down process even more!  I am one of those that doesn’t glue down until I’m happy with my end product.  As usual, it never turns out just as good as before gluing…somethings are a bit off and skewed.  But either way, the end is still a work of art.  I’m proud of this one!

Other products used are K & Company, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists, Recollections flowers, ZVA Creative flourish, Prima Pebbles, and alphas by My Little Shoebox and Recollections.

I definitely have more of this style papers in my stash and plan on playing around with them.  If you are feeling brave, take a close look at this page, then scroll down and look at the comedy below…my first pages!  Talk about a world of difference!

Thanks for taking a look-see and don’t forget to leave some looooooove!  Thanks!

Found your wonderful blog…I saw this in SB.com but didn't have the time to comment since I'm stuck in an office all day. :-Þ Just wanted to say that I think you did a fabulous job here! Nothing better than scrapping yourself & leaving a little bit of yourself for your children & future generations. You did a great job with the cutwork & the overall design of this page! Super work!
