Taking the Plunge: VLVS Design Team Tryout

Hi everyone!  After much hemming and hawing, I’ve decide to just throw caution to the wind and apply for the Viva Las VegaStamps! team.  I’m a huge fan of this store because they specialize in the quirky, unique and out-of-the-box type images I have learned to love.  The fact that they have thousands of stamps to choose from is also an added plus.

I have chosen a few projects that best display my stamping prowess.  First up is an altered tin I made using a harlequin background stamp and some awesome alcohol inks.  This tin was also featured on the Technique Tuesday blog since I did use their background stamp.  Of course I just had to slap some Punchinella onto that bad boy to jazz it up a bit.

Next, I want to show you a neato little tag I made using another background stamp.  Who just doesn’t love leopard print?!  Can you also tell that I love floral sprays as well?  This tag was made for a feature on the Paper Crafter’s Library blog.

I have another altered project to share with you.  This one holds very special meaning for me.  I made this memory jar for a very dear friend of mine who lost one of her closest friends to a sudden death.  She came to me and asked me to make something to commemorate the memory of her friend.  I was more than humbled and honored to make this for her.

This jar is colored with alcohol inks and I used a large cling stamp, minus the acrylic block, to stamp the gold swirl in the background.  Each element on this jar symbolizes something about her friend and their friendship.  But I shall keep those explanations between my friend and I.

And since I couldn’t just stick with 3 projects, I just have to show you this project.  I just made this the other day for May Arts.  This was my first solid attempt at art journaling and I love how it turned out.  That huge dahlia is jumbo cling stamp as well as the embossed hexagons.  I really love the gradient color stamping and will practice this more in the future.

Well, there you have it!  Thanks for taking a look at some of my favorite stamping projects and let’s keep our fingers crossed!

Cheers!
